Game Introduction
Liu Qi, also known as Xia Liu, is a traditional two-player board game popular in Jiangsu region of
China.
Game Process
1. Setup
The board has 36 positions arranged in a 6x6 grid. Each player has 6 pieces (black and white).
Players place their 6 pieces on the bottom row closest to them, with one piece per position.
2. Movement
Players take turns moving pieces along vertical or horizontal lines, one space at a time, one move
per turn.
3. Capturing
There are mainly two capture situations:
- Small Capture: 3 pieces in a line, with 2 of your pieces connected and 1 enemy
piece at the end, capture that enemy piece.
- Big Capture: 4 pieces in a line, with 2 of your pieces connected and 2 enemy
pieces at the end, capture those enemy pieces.
Victory Conditions
Win by capturing opponent's pieces until they cannot move or have too few pieces remaining (2 or
fewer).
